Disassembly Procedure

Start By:

Remove the hydraulic tank. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Hydraulic Tank (Steering)(Brake) - Remove".

Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting, and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids. Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Dealer Service Tool Catalog" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Cat^® products. Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.

Remove bolts (1) from top cover assembly (2). Remove top cover assembly (2) from the hydraulic tank.

Remove O-ring seal (3) from top cover assembly (2).

Remove bolts (4) from sight gauge (5). Remove sight gauge (5) from the hydraulic tank.

Remove O-ring seals (6) from both sides of sight gauge (5).

Remove cap (9) and setscrew (7) from sight glass (8). Remove the O-ring seals from cap (9) and from setscrew (7).

Remove bolts (10) from the hydraulic tank. Use two people in order to separate the hydraulic tank into two halves. The weight of the hydraulic tank is approximately 98 kg (216 lb).

Remove bolts (11). Remove screens (12) and (13) from the hydraulic tank.

Remove O-ring seal (16), nut (21), washer (20), washer (19), and screen (18) from strainer (17).
