Assembly Procedure

1. Install bearing cup (43) and lip seal (42).

2. Use Tooling (C) in order to install retaining ring (41).

3. Raise the temperature of bearing cone (40).

4. Install bearing cone (40) onto shaft (37).

5. Install bearings (35), screws (36), spring (38), and shaft (37).

6. Install swashplate (33) and rod (34).

7. Install shim (22).

8. Install bearing cone (21).

9. Install head (17) and bolts (16). Tighten bolts (16) to a torque of 0.6 N·m (5 lb in).

10. Rotate the shaft in order to seat the bearings. Tighten bolts (16) to a torque of 0.6 N·m (5 lb in).

11. Use a feeler gauge in order to measure the gap between the head and the housing.

12. A preload of 0.08 ± 0.03 mm (0.003 ± 0.001 inch) is required. To calculate the required thickness of spacers, add the preload, the thickness of the shim, and the thickness of the compressed gasket. Then, subtract the average gap in Step 11.

13. Remove bolts (16) and head (17).

18. Remove pins (30), washers (28), and spring (29).

19. Use Tooling (B) and a suitable press in order to install retaining ring (27) into barrel assembly (23).

25. Install spool (10), retainer (11), spring (12), spring (13), O-ring seal (15), and housing (14) into valve (2).

26. Install spool (4), retainer (5), spring (6), spring (7), O-ring seal (9), and housing (8) into valve (2).
