- Install bearing cup (43) and lip seal (42).
- Use Tooling (C) in order to install retaining ring (41).

- Install bearing cone (40) onto shaft (37).

- Install bearings (35), screws (36), spring (38), and shaft (37).

0.6 N·m (5 lb in) . - Rotate the shaft in order to seat the bearings. Tighten bolts (16) to a torque of
0.6 N·m (5 lb in) . - Use a feeler gauge in order to measure the gap between the head and the housing.
- A preload of
0.08 ± 0.03 mm (0.003 ± 0.001 inch) is required. To calculate the required thickness of spacers, add the preload, the thickness of the shim, and the thickness of the compressed gasket. Then, subtract the average gap in Step 11. - Remove bolts (16) and head (17).

- Use Tooling (B) and a suitable press in order to install retaining ring (27) into barrel assembly (23).
