NOTICE

Keep all parts clean from contaminants.

Contaminants may cause rapid wear and shortened component life.


Note: Verify that all of the components of the diverter valve are clean and free of foreign material prior to installation.

Note: Check all of the O-ring seals and the components for wear or damage. Replace the components, if necessary. Lubricate the O-ring seals lightly with the lubricant that is being sealed.

  1. Install valve (38), spring (39), O-ring seal (40), and plug (41) to body (3).

  2. Install valve (34), spring (35), O-ring seal (36), and plug (37) to body (3).

  3. Install plugs (33) and (32) and the O-ring seals to body (3).

  4. Install fitting (31) and the O-ring seal to body (3).

  5. Install valve (27), spring (28), O-ring seal (29), and plug (30) to body (3).

  6. Install O-ring seal (24), backup ring (25), and O-ring seal (26) to relief valve (23).

  7. Install relief valve (23) to body (3).

  8. Position stem (21), rectangular seal (22), and cover (16) to body (3).

  9. Position spring (20), dowel (19), rectangular seal (18), and cover (17) to body (3).

  10. Install elbow (15) and the O-ring seal to cover (16).

  11. Install ball (14), retainer (13), spring (12), retainer (11), and retaining ring (10) to stem assembly (9).

  12. Use Tooling (A) (not shown) in order to install retaining ring (10) to stem assembly (9).

  13. Repeat Steps 11 and 12 for the remaining side of stem assembly (9).

  14. Install stem assembly (9) to body (3).

  15. Install rectangular seal (6) to cover (5).

  16. Apply Tooling (B) to bolt (7). Install bolt (7) and spacer (8) to cover (5).

  17. Install cover (5) and bolts (4) to body (3).

  18. Repeat Steps15 , 16, and 17 in order to install the cover on the remaining side of body (3).

  19. Install rectangular seals (1) and (2) to body (3) of the diverter valve.

End By:

  1. Install the diverter valve. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Diverter Valve (Secondary Steering) - Install".
