Diverter Valve (Secondary Steering) - Disassemble

Start By:

  1. Remove the diverter valve. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Diverter Valve (Secondary Steering) - Remove".


NOTICE

Keep all parts clean from contaminants.

Contaminants may cause rapid wear and shortened component life.

  1. Remove rectangular seals (1) and (2) from body (3) of the diverter valve.

  2. Remove bolts (4) and cover (5) from body (3).

  3. Remove rectangular seal (6) from cover (5). Remove bolt (7) and spacer (8) from cover (5).

  4. Repeat Steps 2 and 3 in order to remove the cover on the remaining side of body (3).

  5. Remove stem assembly (9) from body (3).

    ------ WARNING! ------

    Sudden release of spring force can cause injury.

    To prevent the possibility of injury, follow the procedure to relieve the spring pressure.


  6. Use Tooling (A) (not shown) in order to remove retaining ring (10) from stem assembly (9).

  7. Remove retaining ring (10), retainer (11), spring (12), retainer (13), and ball (14) from stem assembly (9).

  8. Repeat Steps 6 and 7 for the remaining side of stem assembly (9).

  9. Remove elbow (15) and the O-ring seal from cover (16).

  10. Remove cover (17), rectangular seal (18), dowel (19), and spring (20) from body (3).

  11. Remove cover (16), rectangular seal (22), and stem (21) from body (3).

  12. Remove relief valve (23) from body (3).

  13. Remove O-ring seal (24), backup ring (25), and O-ring seal (26) from relief valve (23).

  14. Remove plug (30), O-ring seal (29), spring (28), and valve (27) from body (3).

  15. Remove fitting (31) and the O-ring seal from body (3).

  16. Remove plugs (32) and (33) and the O-ring seals from body (3).

  17. Remove plug (37), O-ring seal (36), spring (35), and valve (34) from body (3).

  18. Remove plug (41), O-ring seal (40), spring (39), and valve (38) from body (3).
