Start By:

  1. Remove the bottom guard. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Bottom Guard - Remove".

  2. Remove the track roller frame. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Track Roller Frame -Remove".


NOTICE

Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting, and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.

Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Dealer Service Tool Catalog" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Cat products.

Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.


Note: Put identification marks on all hoses, on all hose assemblies, on all wires, and on all tube assemblies for installation purposes. Plug all hose assemblies and all tube assemblies. This helps to prevent fluid loss, and this helps to keep contaminants from entering the system.

  1. Disconnect tube assembly (1) and grease hose assembly (2).

  2. Remove cover (3).

  3. Use Tooling (A) in order to raise the front corner of the machine that is opposite of the side that is being worked on.

  4. Attach a suitable lifting device and Tooling (H) to equalizer bar (4).

  5. Use Tooling (B) in order to remove pin (5) (not shown).

  6. Use Tooling (C), Tooling (H), and a suitable lifting device in order to support equalizer bar (4).

  7. Remove bolt (6).

  8. Use Tooling (D) in order to remove pin assembly (7).

  9. Reposition equalizer bar (4) and reposition the suitable lifting device.

  10. Remove equalizer bar (4). The weight of equalizer bar (4) is approximately 227 kg (500 lb).

  11. Remove spacer (8) and seal (9). Repeat for the opposite side.

  12. Use Tooling (E) in order to remove bearing (10) (not shown).

  13. Remove four seals (11).

  14. Use Tooling (F) in order to remove retaining rings (12).

  15. Use Tooling (G) in order to remove bearings (13).
