NOTICE

Keep all parts clean from contaminants.

Contaminants may cause rapid wear and shortened component life.


  1. Ensure that the rear of the crankshaft is thoroughly clean and dry prior to the installation of the crankshaft wear sleeve.

  2. Use a prybar to move the crankshaft toward the front of the engine.

  3. Apply a small continuous bead of Tooling (C) to the inner surface 5.00 mm (0.197 inch) from the flange end of crankshaft wear sleeve (2).

  4. Position crankshaft wear sleeve (2) on crankshaft (4). Position installation tool (3) that is provided with the new crankshaft wear sleeve over crankshaft (4). Use a hammer to drive crankshaft wear sleeve (2) onto crankshaft (4). The flange of crankshaft wear sleeve (2) must be within 0.40 to 0.60 mm (0.017 to 0.024 inch) of cylinder block (1).

  5. Remove installation tool (3). Measure the distance between the flange of the crankshaft wear sleeve and cylinder block (1) in two places that are 180 degrees from each other. The correct Distance (X) is 0.40 to 0.60 mm (0.017 to 0.024 inch).

  6. After crankshaft wear sleeve (2) has been installed, remove any rough edges from crankshaft wear sleeve (2).

  1. Install the crankshaft rear seal. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Crankshaft Rear Seal - Install".
