Disassembly Procedure

Start By:

1. Remove the parking brake actuator. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Parking Brake Actuator - Remove". The information is in this manual.

Personal injury can result from being struck by parts propelled by a released spring force. Make sure to wear all necessary protective equipment. Follow the recommended procedure and use all recommended tooling to release the spring force.

1. Use Tool (A) and a press in order to press down on cover (1) . Remove eight bolts (2) from cylinder assembly (3) . Carefully release the spring pressure on cover (1) .

2. Remove cover (1) from spring (4) . Remove spring (4) from cylinder assembly (3) .

3. Mark the location of nut (5) on pushrod (6) for installation purposes. Loosen nut (5) . Remove yoke rod end (7) , nut (5) and dust boot (8) from pushrod (6) .

4. Remove spacer sleeve (9) , nut (10) and flange nut (11 ) from pushrod (6) . Remove pushrod (6) from cylinder assembly (3) .

5. Use Tool (B) and a press to remove piston assembly (12) from cylinder assembly (3) .

6. Remove felt wiper seal (13) and O-ring seal (14) from piston assembly (12) .

7. Remove seal (15) and O-ring seal (16) from cylinder assembly (3) .
