The inlet air system has exceeded the warning trip point for overtemperature protection.
System Response:
The Electronic Control Module (ECM) will log the event.
Engine operation is not affected.
Test Step 1. Check the Monitoring System Parameter
The "High Intake Air Temperature" parameter may be incorrectly programmed. Use Caterpillar Electronic Technician (ET) to view the parameter setting for "High Intake Air Temperature". Ensure that the parameter setting is correct for the application of the engine.
Expected Result:
The "High Intake Air Temperature" parameter is programmed correctly.
Results:
- OK - There is a problem with the air inlet or the exhaust system.
Repair: Refer to Systems Operation/Testing and Adjusting, "Air Inlet and Exhaust System".
STOP
- Not OK - The parameter is incorrectly programmed.
Repair: Refer to Troubleshooting, "System Configuration Parameters" for the temperature range that is available for the "High Intake Air Temperature" parameter. Verify that the repair eliminates the problem.
