Electric Starting Motor - Remove and Install

Removal Procedure


NOTICE

Keep all parts clean from contaminants.

Contaminants may cause rapid wear and shortened component life.


  1. Disconnect the battery cables from the battery.

  1. Place an index mark on all of the harness assemblies that are connected to the electric starting motor. Disconnect the harness assemblies from the electric starting motor.

  1. Fasten a suitable lifting device to electric starting motor (2). The weight of the electric starting motor is approximately 27 kg (60 lb).

  1. Remove bolts (1) .

  1. Remove electric starting motor (2) .

Installation Procedure

  1. Fasten a suitable lifting device to electric starting motor (2). The weight of the electric starting motor is approximately 27 kg (60 lb).

  1. Position the electric starting motor in the flywheel housing. Install bolts (1) .

  1. Connect all of the harness assemblies to the electric starting motor by using the index marks.

  1. Connect the battery cables to the battery.
