Note: When a used spark plug is reinstalled, always install a new spark plug gasket. Orient the gasket's tangs toward the spark plug's sealing face.

(B) Electrode gap of the spark plug ... 0.29 ± 0.04 mm (0.011 ± 0.002 inch)

(1) Torque for the 20 spark plugs ... 68 ± 4 N·m (50 ± 3 lb ft)

(4) Center the grommet between the paint marks on the wiring harness (3). Orient the notch of the bulkhead connector (2) in the upward position.

(5) Install five grommets at each side of the engine from cylinder number 1 through cylinder number 10.

(6) Install three grommets at each side of the engine from cylinder number 11 through cylinder number 16.

(7) Install one grommet at each side of the engine for cylinder number 17 and cylinder number 18.

Ignition transformer group

(8) Torque for the two screws ... 2.0 ± 0.5 N·m (18 ± 4 lb in)

(9) Assemble the transformer spring with the positioning tab directly above the connector for the ignition transformer group.

(10) Lubricate the bore of the seal lightly with clean engine oil. Ensure that the seal is properly seated in the groove, as shown.

Note: Before assembling the terminal assembly, press fit insulator (12) into the ignition transformer group.

(11) Torque for the terminal assembly ... 2.70 ± 0.25 N·m (24 ± 2 lb in)

(13) On every removal of the ignition transformer group, check the O-ring seal. Replace the O-ring seal if any of the following conditions exist:

• The O-ring seal is hard.

• The O-ring seal is cracked.
