Keep all parts clean from contaminants. Contaminants may cause rapid wear and shortened component life. |
- Lubricate plungers (4) and springs (5) with clean engine oil. Install the plungers and the springs in oil filter base assembly (3) .

Improper assembly of parts that are spring loaded can cause bodily injury. To prevent possible injury, follow the established assembly procedure and wear protective equipment. |

- Position gaskets (6) and covers (8) on the oil filter base assembly. Install bolts (7) .
- Install O-ring seal (2) on plug (1). Install the plug in oil filter base assembly (3) .
- If necessary, install taperlock stud (9) to oil filter base assembly (3). Tighten the taperlock stud to a torque of 81 ± 14 N·m (60 ± 10 lb ft).
Note: Apply Tooling (A) to the first 7.5 ± 1.5 mm (0.30 ± 0.06 inch) of threads at the base end of the taperlock stud.
End By: Install the engine oil filter base. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Engine Oil Filter Base - Install".
