NOTICE

Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.

Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Caterpillar Tools and Shop Products Guide" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Caterpillar products.

Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.

  1. Remove engine oil filter (7) with Tooling (A) .

  1. Remove bolts (5) and remove hose assembly (8) and hose assembly (9) from oil filter adapter (4). Remove the O-ring seals from hose assembly (8) and hose assembly (9) .

  1. Remove bolts (2). Remove oil filter adapter (4) from oil filter base (6). Remove gasket (3) from the oil filter base.

  1. Remove bolts (1). Remove oil filter base (6) from the flywheel housing.

  1. Remove bolts (19) and remove hose assembly (8) and hose assembly (9) from adapter (18). Remove the O-ring seals from hose assembly (8) and hose assembly (9) .

  1. Remove bolts (11). Remove bolts (13) .

  1. Remove bolts (15). Remove oil filter base assembly (16) from the engine oil cooler and the cylinder block. Remove O-ring seals (10), (12), and (14) from the oil filter base assembly.

  1. Remove bolts (20) and remove adapter (4) from the oil filter base assembly. Remove O-ring seals (17) from the adapter.
