Usage:
start by:
a) remove rocker shaft and push rods
1. Remove the ring, washer (1) and spring from the end of the rocker shaft.
2. Remove rocker arm (2), bracket (3), rocker arm (4), washer (5) and spring (6) from the rocker shaft.
3. Disassemble the remainder of the rocker shaft with the above procedure.
Assemble Rocker Shaft
1. Make sure the oil holes in the rocker shaft brackets are clean and free of all dirt or foreign material.
2. Measure the bore of the bearings in each of the rocker arms. The bore must be .7263 ± .0005 in. (18.448 ± 0.013 mm).
3. Measure the diameter of the rocker shaft at each of the rocker arm locations. The diameter must be .7245 ± .0005 in. (18.402 ± 0.013 mm).
NOTE: The maximum permissible clearance between the rocker arm bearings and the rocker shaft is .008 in. (0.20 mm). If a replacement of the rocker arm bearings is needed, make a replacement of the arm and bearings as a unit. The rocker arms and bearings can not be ordered separately.
4. Install the ring, washer (4), and spring on the end of the rocker shaft.
5. Install the rocker arm (6), bracket (3), rocker arm (5), washer (2) and spring (1).
6. Assemble the remainder of the rocker shaft with the same procedure. Put clean engine oil on all of the parts after assembly.

If the adjusting screws and locknuts have been removed from the rocker arms, do not turn the adjusting screws too far into the rocker arms. Damage to the valve can be the result after the rocker shaft and push rods have been installed in the engine. |
