Priority Valve

Usage:

Remove And Install Priority Valve

1. Remove six bolts (2), washers and lockwashers and remove floor plate (1).

2. Remove four pins and cotter pins and remove left side steering clutch and brake linkage rods (3).

3. Remove four bolts and lockwashers and remove flange (4) from priority valve (6).

4. Remove four bolts (7) and lockwashers.

5. Remove priority valve assembly from the torque converter housing.

6. Inspect and make a replacement, if necessary, of two O-ring seals (8). Install priority valve (6) on the torque converter housing with four bolts and lockwashers.

7. Inspect and make a replacement, if necessary, of O-ring seal (5). Install flange (4) on the priority valve with four bolts and lockwashers.

8. Install left side steering clutch and brake linkage rods (3) with four pins and cotter pins.

9. Install floor plate (1) with six bolts (2), washers and lockwashers.

Disassemble Priority Valve

start by:

a) remove priority valve

1. Remove the bolts and remove the cover (1). Remove the O-ring seal from the cover.

2. Remove the dowel (6), spring (5), spacers (3), valve spool assembly (4) and slug (2) from valve body.

3. Use tool (A) to remove the snap ring (10) from the valve spool assembly. Remove the retainer (9), the spring (8) and plunger (7).

4. Remove dowel (11) from valve body and remove the stop (12) and O-ring seal.

Assemble Priority Valve

1. Install the O-ring seal (1) on the stop (2).

2. Put the stop in position in the valve body and install the dowel (3).

3. Put the plunger, spring and retainer in position in the valve spool assembly (4). Install the snap ring with tool (A).

4. Install the slug (5), valve spool assembly (4), spacers (6), spring (7) and dowel (8) in the valve body.

5. Install the O-ring seal (9) in cover (10). Put the cover in position on the valve and install the bolts that hold it.
