|
3159 |
PS40219 |
NOTE: This Program can be administered either before or after failure. In either case the decision whether to apply the Program is made by the dealer. When reporting the repair, use "PS40219" as the Part number and "7755" as the Group Number. If administered before failure, use "56" as the Warranty Claim Description Code and use "T" as the SIMS Description Code. If it hasn't been done previously it must be done at the same time as the April 21, 2000 Service Letter PS40126 "Product Support Program For Replacing The Speed Sensors Mounted To The Transmission And Torque Converter On Certain D6R, And D7R Track Type Tractors."
NOTE: The information supplied in this service letter may not be valid after the termination date of this program. Do not perform the work outlined in this Service Letter after the termination date without first contacting your Caterpillar product analyst.
NOTE: This Revised Service Letter replaces the May 9, 2000 Service Letter. Changes have been made to the Affected Product.

ACTION REQUIRED
NOTE: This program can only be administered while completing PS40126 or if the transmission is removed for some other reason.
Illustration 1 - Location of Bolts 1
While the transmission is out the torque of the 7B3235 Bolts which secure the bearing cages in the bevel gear groups needs to be checked.
Measure the torque while tightening the bolts. If the bolts do not move with at torque of 110 N.m (80 ft-lb) they are tight.
If the bolts move below this torque, continue to tighten the bolts to a torque of 135 N.m (100 ft-lb).
When filing the claim enter either "LOW TORQUE" or "TORQUES OK" in the additional comments section of the claim.
