Removal Procedure


NOTICE

Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.

Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Caterpillar Dealer Service Tool Catalog" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Caterpillar products.

Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.



NOTICE

Keep all parts clean from contaminants.

Contaminants may cause rapid wear and shortened component life.

  1. Remove tube assembly (1) .

  1. Remove tube assembly (2) and (3) . Plug and cap all openings immediately.

  1. Remove tube assembly (6) . Plug and cap all openings immediately.

  1. Remove tube assembly (7) . Plug and cap all openings immediately.

  1. Remove bolts (5) from elbow (4) .

  1. Loosen hose clamps (8) .

  1. Disconnect tube assembly (9) . Plug and cap all openings immediately.

  1. Remove four bolts (10) and exhaust elbow (11) .

  1. Attach a suitable lifting device to turbocharger (12) .

  1. Remove four nuts (13) and remove turbocharger (12) . The weight of turbocharger (12) is approximately 57 kg (125 lb).
