Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids. Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Caterpillar Tools and Shop Products Guide" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Caterpillar products. Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates. |

Keep all parts clean from contaminants. Contaminants may cause rapid wear and shortened component life. |
- Disconnect line (1). Plug and cap all openings immediately.

- Remove bolt and washer (2). Move fumes disposal tube (3) out of the way.
- Remove two bolts and washers (4). Move detonation sensor (5) out of the way.

- Remove three bolts and washers (6) .
- Remove engine oil cooler bonnet (7). Check the condition of the O-ring seal between the engine oil cooler bonnet and the engine oil cooler. If the O-ring seal is worn or damaged, use a new part for replacement.

- Remove two bolts (8) and two bolts (9.)
- Remove engine oil cooler (11). Remove gasket (10) .

- Remove adapter (13) from the engine oil cooler. Remove two O-ring seals (12) from adapter (13) .

- Clean the tube bundles of the engine oil cooler with a 3.18 mm (0.125 inch) diameter rod.
