Keep all parts clean from contaminants. Contaminants may cause rapid wear and shortened component life. |
- Use Tooling (B) in order to clean the inside diameter of air compressor drive gear (4) and the outside diameter of the drive shaft for the air compressor.
- Lubricate washer (3) and the threads on the drive shaft with clean engine oil.
- Mount air compressor (1) in a bench vise.

NOTICE A loose air compressor drive gear can lead to immediate loss of hydraulic power to vehicle systems
- Install Tooling (B).
- Install air compressor drive gear (4) on the air compressor crankshaft.
- Install washer (3) and nut (2).
- Tighten nut (2) to a torque of
170 ± 15 N·m (125 ± 11 lb ft) . - Use a soft faced hammer and tap the air compressor drive gear. Again tighten the nut to a torque of
170 ± 15 N·m (125 ± 11 lb ft) .
