Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids. Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Caterpillar Tools and Shop Products Guide" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Caterpillar products. Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates. |
- Use Tool (A) to remove high pressure oil supply line (1) .

- Remove fuel line (4) .
- Disconnect electrical plug (3) .
- Remove return line (5) from the engine block and fitting (2) .
- Remove three bolts (6) and remove the unit injector hydraulic pump from the timing gear housing.
- Remove O-ring seal (7) from the unit injector hydraulic pump. Inspect O-ring seal (7) for wear or damage. If O-ring seal (7) is worn or damaged, use a new part for replacement.

- Remove bolt (8) and washer (9). Remove drive gear (10) and inspect drive gear (10) for wear or damage. Replace drive gear (10), if necessary.
