Installation Procedure

1. Install the valve assembly, if necessary. Ensure that the valve is flush with the surface of the housing.

2. Use Tooling (B) to install the seals, if necessary. Ensure that the lip of the seal is toward the inside of the housing.

   NOTICE
   If the water temperature regulator is installed incorrectly, it will cause the engine to overheat.

3. Install water temperature regulators (14) in regulator housing (10) with the spring upward.

4. Install regulator housing (10) on water temperature regulator housing (12).

5. Install the O-ring seals in water temperature regulator housing (12).

6. Attach Tooling (A) and a suitable lifting device to water temperature regulator housing (12). The weight of water temperature regulator housing (12) is approximately 59 kg (130 lb). Position water temperature regulator housing (12) on the engine.

7. Install bolts (11) that attach water temperature regulator housing (12) to exhaust manifold (13).

8. Install mounting straps (7) and (9). Install plate (8) on the engine oil filter housing.

9. Install a new gasket, elbow (1), and the bolts.

10. Install the O-ring seals and tube (5). Install retainers (2) and (6) with the bolts.

11. Install support bracket (4) and the bolts.

12. Install pressure sensor (3). Connect the harness assembly to pressure sensor (3).

13. Fill the cooling system to the correct level with coolant. Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Cooling System Coolant - Change".
