Engine Oil Pump - Remove

Usage:

3034 3NW

Removal Procedure

Start By:

  1. Remove the front housing. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Housing (Front) - Remove".


NOTICE

Keep all parts clean from contaminants.

Contaminants may cause rapid wear and shortened component life.



NOTICE

Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.

Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Caterpillar Tools and Shop Products Guide" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Caterpillar products.

Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.

  1. Remove three bolts (1) that fasten engine oil pump (2) to the front housing.

  1. Remove engine oil pump (2) and the O-ring seal from the front housing.

  1. Inspect engine oil pump (2) for wear or damage. If the engine oil pump is worn or damaged, use a new part for replacement.

    Note: For more information on the engine oil pump, refer to the Specifications Module, "Engine Oil Pump" topic.

  1. Check the O-ring seal for wear or damage. If the O-ring seal is worn or damaged, use a new part for replacement.

  1. Inspect alignment dowels (3) for wear or damage. If the alignment dowels are worn or damaged, use new parts for replacement.
