  1. Lower the temperature of bearing (65).

  2. Use Tooling (G) to install bearing (65).

  3. Install O-ring seal (66).

  4. Install O-ring seal (64).

  5. Install clutch piston (63), friction disk (62), clutch plate (61), friction disk (60), and clutch backing plate (59).

  6. Install retaining ring (58).

  7. Install retainer (57), race (56), and bearing (55).

  8. Install race (53) into hub (54).

  9. Position turbine (47) on hub (54).

  10. Install retainer (52), race (51), and bearing (50).

  11. Install clamp ring (49) and bolts (48). Tighten bolt (48) to a torque of 105 ± 15 N·m (77 ± 11 lb ft).

  12. Install turbine (47).

  13. Install cam (46).

  14. Install retaining ring (45).

  15. Lower the temperature of bearing (41).

  16. Use Tooling (G) to install bearing (41) into plate (39).

  17. Lower the temperature of bearing (40).

  18. Use Tooling (G) to install bearing (40) into plate (37).

  19. Install race (44).

  20. Install plate (37) and retaining ring (36).

    Note: Install plate (37) with the cam side label facing cam (46).

    Improper assembly of parts that are spring loaded can cause bodily injury.

    To prevent possible injury, follow the established assembly procedure and wear protective equipment.


  21. Install rollers (42). Install springs (43).

    Note: Springs (43) must be installed with the maximum number of loops toward the outside.

  22. Install plate (39) and retaining ring (38).

    Note: Install plate (39) with the cam side label facing the cam (46).

  23. Position drive gear (35) onto drive adapter (67).

  24. Install bolts (34). Tighten bolts (34) to a torque of 60 ± 7 N·m (44 ± 5 lb ft)

  25. Position impeller (29) on drive adapter (67).

  26. Install impeller hub (33) and bolts (32). Tighten bolts (32) to a torque of 100 ± 15 N·m (74 ± 11 lb ft).

  27. Lubricate the seal with a light coat of the fluid being contained. Install the seal at location (Z).

  28. Raise the temperature of bearing (31). Install bearing (31) onto stator carrier (30).

  29. Attach tooling (D) and a suitable lifting device to impeller (29). The weight of impeller (29) is approximately 45 kg (100 lb).

  30. Position impeller (29) onto stator carrier (30).

  31. Install retaining ring (28).

  32. Install sleeve (27), race (26), bearing (25), thrust plate (24), and bearing (23).

  33. Install stator (22) and retaining ring (21).

  34. Attach Tooling (B) and a suitable lifting device to stator carrier (20). The weight of stator carrier (20) is approximately 95 kg (210 lb).

  35. Position stator carrier (20). Install bolts (19). Tighten bolts (19) to a torque of 50 N·m (37 lb ft).

  36. Attach a suitable lifting device to torque converter housing (9). The weight of torque converter housing (9) is approximately 100 kg (220 lb).

  37. Lubricate the seal with a light coat of the fluid being contained.

  38. Install the seal at location (X). Install torque converter housing (9) and bolts (8).

  39. Use a suitable press to install bearing (18) onto shaft (15).

  40. Install seal rings (16), and seal ring (17).

  41. Install shaft (15).

    Note: Note the orientation mark at location (X) on cover (14). Cover (14) must be installed with the same orientation.

  42. Install cover (14) and bolts (13). Tighten bolts (13) to a torque of 60 ± 7 N·m (44 ± 5 lb ft).

  43. Lubricate the seal with a light coat of the fluid being contained.

  44. Install the seal at location (W).

  45. Use Tooling (G) to install seal (12) into retainer (11).

    Note: Note the orientation mark on bearing retainer (11). Bearing retainer (11) must be installed in the same position.

  46. Install the gasket, bearing retainer (11), and bolts (10). Tighten bolts (10) to a torque of 60 ± 7 N·m (44 ± 5 lb ft).

  47. Install yoke (7), the O-ring seals, retainer (1), and bolt (2). Tighten bolt (2) to a torque of 240 ± 25 N·m (177 ± 18 lb ft).

  48. Install relief valve (4) and bolts (3).

  49. Install modulating valve (5) and bolts (6).

End By:

  1. Install the gear pump.

  2. Install the torque converter.
