Hydraulic Tank - Remove and Install

Usage:

559D KL5

Removal Procedure

Start By:

  1. Remove the engine enclosure.

  2. Remove the clean emissions module.


NOTICE

Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting, and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.

Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Dealer Service Tool Catalog" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Cat® products.

Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.


  1. Drain the hydraulic oil. Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Hydraulic System Oil - Change" for the correct draining and filling procedures.

  2. Remove bolt (2) and position the clamp out of the way.

  3. Disconnect hose assembly (1) and tube assembly (3).

  4. Disconnect hose assembly (4).

  5. Remove nut (5) and position the hose assemblies out of the way.

  6. Remove nut (6) and position hose assemblies (7) out of the way.

  7. Cut the cable straps and position sleeve (8) out of the way.

  8. Loosen clamp (9).

  9. Remove nut (10) and position the hose assemblies out of the way.

  10. Attach a suitable lifting device to hydraulic tank (11). The weight of hydraulic tank (11) is approximately 404 kg (890 lb).

  11. Remove eight mounting bolts (12) and hydraulic tank (11).

  12. Place hydraulic tank (11) onto suitable cribbing.

  13. Disconnect harness assembly (14).

  14. Remove bolts (13), bolts (15), and position harness assembly (14) out of the way.

  15. Remove five bolts (17) and plate assembly (16).

  16. Remove bolts (19), bolts (20), and filter assembly (18).

Installation Procedure

  1. Install the hydraulic tank in the reverse order of removal.
