SUBJECT: 3406E Marine Software May Need to be Reinstalled

PROBLEM:

The following engine flash files were erroneously released to production and to the Caterpillar Service Information System (SIS):

  • 216-2926 Engine Ratings Electronic Software

  • 216-2927 Engine Ratings Electronic Software

  • 216-2928 Engine Ratings Electronic Software

  • 216-2929 Engine Ratings Electronic Software

  • 216-2930 Engine Ratings Electronic Software

Engines with serial numbers 9WR2818-9WR2859 left the factory with the above-listed software. If this software was installed, the engine may perform poorly.

SOLUTION:

Discontinue use of the above-listed flash files. Engines with the serial numbers 9WR2818-9WR2859 will need to be flashed. Refer to Table 1.
