SUBJECT: Fuel Temperature Compensation for C-15 Operating in New Holland FX58 Forage Harvesters.

PROBLEM:

During dynomometer testing of the C-15 (BEM serial number prefix) installed in the New Holland Forage Harvester, it has been determined that the fuel temperature compensation feature in the electronic engine control software is not operational. As a result, the software is not automatically changing the fuel delivery to the engine to compensate for increasing fuel temperature. This can result in some customers complaining about low engine power as the level in the fuel tank is reduced and the fuel temperature increases.

SOLUTION:

These engines are currently equipped with a 215-3247 Flash File.A new issue of this software is being developed which will provide the same fuel temperature characteristics previously provided for the 3406E engines. This software is currently slated for November 2002 release. It should be installed on the engines of customers operating FX58 Forage Harvesters with C-15 engines complaining about reduced power output under these circumstances.
