The oil pan gasket can leak requiring retorque of accessible fasteners on certain C175-16 and C175-20 Locomotive Engines. The existing oil pan gasket can leak as a result of gasket set and loss of clamp load in the oil pan to engine block joint. Loss of clamp load results in excessive motion causing gasket to tear and allow oil to leak from joint. A minimum of 50.0 hours of engine operation is required prior to retorque to ensure oil pan gasket has achieved thermal set. |
No parts needed for this program |
Before completing any maintenance procedure, review the product's Operation and Maintenance Manual, and follow all safety information and safe work practices.
Retorque all accessible oil pan fasteners to 60 N.m (44 ft-lb). Disassembly of components for fastener access is not required. |
