New High Temperature Resistant Seal Group Available For Jacket Water Pump{1361}

Usage:

G3508 (2JF),
G3512 (4KC),
G3516 (3RC) Engines In Landfill Applications

Description of Change: A new high temperature resistant seal group is available for the jacket water pump. This new seal group includes an installation tool to help ensure the correct installation of the new seal in the water pump.

Adaptable To: The new 9Y-8788 Seal Group can be used to replace the 8C-5236 Seal in the 9Y-8300 Water Pump Group in landfill applications. An installation tool designed specifically for installing the new seal group is included in the 9Y-8788 Seal Group.

Seal Installation Procedure

During rebuild of the water pump, do NOT lift the pump by the shaft. Lifting the pump by the shaft can result in a cracked carbon or ceramic ring. Use only clean water as a lubricant to aid installation of the seal group. Refer to Disassembly And Assembly, 3512 And 3516 Spark Ignited Engines, SENR4605, for complete water pump disassembly and assembly information.

1. Use the installation tool and hand pressure to seat the ceramic ring and rubber seal in the pump housing. The identification marks on the ceramic ring should be away from the carbon seal.

2. Remove the spring from the carbon seal assembly. Use the installation tool and hand pressure to press the carbon seal assembly onto the shaft until the seal face makes light contact with the ceramic ring.

3. Install the spring on the carbon seal assembly.
