Carburetor Control Linkage (EG3P Governor) {1265}

Usage:

G3500 Engines

NOTE: The dimensions and adjustment procedure are the same for right and left hand mounted governors.

(1) Throttle shaft and lever (keyed).

(2) Cross shaft and levers (both levers keyed). Diameter of cross shaft ... 15.735 ± 0.013 mm (.6195 ± .0005 in).

(3) Cross shaft bearings. Bore in bearings for cross shaft ... ... 15.880 ± .005 mm (.6252 ± .0002 in).

(4) Reference angle for carburetor shaft (fully open to fully closed) ... 75 degrees. ...

(5) Rod end and nut. Tighten nuts on all rod ends to a torque of ... 12 ± 4 N·m (9 ± 3 lb ft). ...

NOTE: Assemble the rod ends to provide equal thread engagement in rod on both ends.

(6) Length to adjust carburetor shaft to cross shaft linkage before assembly:

3508 ... 194.2 ± 1.0 mm (7.65 ± .04 in) .
3512 ... 194.2 ± 1.0 mm (7.65 ± .04 in).
3516 ... 179.8 ± 1.0 mm (7.08 ± .04 in).

(7) Governor to cross shaft (middle) linkage is adjusted to a reference length of 404 mm (15.9 in) for all engines.

(8) Length to adjust lower linkage before assembly ... 254 ± 1 mm (10 ± .04 in).

(9) With governor shaft held in the fully open position, the lever angle (from horizontal) is ... 5 ± 5 degrees.

(10) Reference angle (fully open to fully closed position) ... 37 degrees.

(11) Governor control shaft.

Procedure To Install And Adjust Linkage

a. Rotate governor output shaft (11) to the open position.

b. Install governor control lever at the angle (9) shown.

c. Install remaining levers and keys on the shafts.

d. Adjust the upper linkage (6) and lower linkage (8) to the correct lengths and install.

e. With both the throttle plate and governor shaft held in the fully open position, adjust linkage (7) to fit between the levers and install.

f. Rotate linkage so the throttle is in the closed position. Adjust the throttle stop screw to contact pin the throttle body to minimize plate to bore gap. Insure the gap is large enough to avoid wedging the throttle plate in the bore during engine operation.
