Turbocharger bearings for the Garrett (formerly AiResearch) Turbochargers have changed. All 0.13 mm (.005 in) undersized bearings have been canceled. Two 0.51 mm (.020 in) oversized bearings have been added for extended housing service. Chart A identifies the bearings that have been canceled. Chart B identifies all the serviceable bearings for Garrett Turbochargers.

NOTE: The two washers (1) included in these bearing kits should be installed on the turbine wheel side (2) of the sleeve bearings. See the illustration. Other turbocharger models using wear washers will NOT necessarily be located in the same positions. See the Disassembly and Assembly Module in the appropriate Service Manual for installation instructions for a particular turbocharger. The bearing retainer (snap) rings on ALL turbochargers should be installed with the smooth side of the ring toward the journal bearing.
