Be Sure To Use Correct Connector/Connectors Between Fuel Transfer Pump Outlet And Tube To Fuel Filter{1274,1256}

Usage:

3116 ( 7SF ) Truck Engines

Be sure to use the correct connector/connectors between the fuel transfer pump outlet and the tube that goes to the fuel filter. Earlier engines with a 7C9651 or 7E9735 Fuel Filter Lines Group, have two connectors between the fuel transfer pump outlet and the tube to the fuel filter. A 7W7381 Connector is screwed into the fuel transfer pump outlet and a 6V8636 Connector is screwed into the 7W7381 Connector. The tube to the filter is connected to the 6V8636 Connector.

Later engines with a 4P2159 or 4P2076 Fuel Filter Lines Group, have only one connector between the fuel transfer pump outlet and the tube to the fuel filter. The 7E9898 Connector is screwed into the fuel transfer pump outlet and the tube to the fuel filter is connected to that connector.

The 6V8636 and 7E9898 Connectors look similar, but the length of the 9/16-18 threaded end of the 6V8636 Connector is 2.5 mm (.10 in) longer than the 9/16-18 threaded end of the 7E9898 Connector. If a 6V8636 Connector is screwed in to the fuel transfer pump outlet the added length will interfere with the outlet check valve in the pump. This can restrict the fuel flow from the fuel transfer pump.
