The information in this article supersedes the information in the Reference Article.
Description of Change: New cylinder kits are available for 3400 Family of Direct Injection Marine Engines and the 3406 DI (70V) Vehicular Engines in D8N and 824C Tractors and 825C and 826C Compactors. Pistons and liners released specifically for use in marine engines and 3406 DI (70V) Vehicular Engines are used in these kits. The pistons have an improved skirt profile and a modified surface finish. The pistons are used in conjunction with new "controlled size" cylinder liners. Marine applications, D8N and 824C Tractor, and 825C, 826C Compactor engines frequently operate with elevated air inlet temperatures. These new cylinder kits will provide improved resistance to piston seizures.
Adaptable To: The chart identifies the new cylinder kits. The new kits are adaptable to the 3400 DI Family of Marine Engines and the 3406 DI (70V) Vehicular Engines in D8N and 824C Tractors and 825C and 826C Compactors with the standard width journal crankshaft using the 9Y9497 Rod Bearing.
