Front Trunnion Bolts May Come Loose {1153,1154}

Usage:

3306B ( 63Z, 76R ) Truck Engines

The front trunnion bolts may come loose and cause oil to leak on certain truck engines. The cause may be the misalignment of the front frame mounting holes. If the mounting holes are not aligned, the front engine support group can be pulled forward and put excessive stress on the trunnion bolts. If the trunnion bolts are found to be loose, use the following procedure and illustration to check the alignment of the bolt holes.

Procedure To Check Front Trunnion Bolts For Alignment

1. Position the truck on a level surface and secure the truck from any movement. Place suitable supports under the engine.

2. Remove the mounting bolts that hold the trunnion, the front engine support group, and the truck frame.

3. Position the front engine support group and tighten the mounting bolts in the sequence which follows. See the illustration.

a. Three 0L1329 Bolts (A) in the trunnion, and two 1B4367 Bolts (B) in the front engine support group.

b. Front engine support bolts (C).

4. Check the alignment of the truck frame bolt holes with cross member (D). If the holes are aligned, install and tighten the bolts. If the holes are not aligned, contact the truck manufacturer or truck dealer.
