Usage:
New composite halogen headlights and floodlights are available to retrofit field populations of construction equipment. The new lights are divided into two categories European and Non-European.
The Non-European lights are for off-highway use, but temporary roading may be acceptable. They are available as high and low beam headlights and flood lights. Both 12 and 24 volt DC lights are available. See Non-European Lights.
The European lights are available in various high and low beam headlight configurations depending on each countries requirements. The lights come in only 24 volt DC. The European lights satisfy European roading requirements. See European Lights.
The new lights provide a rugged, long-life easily serviced composite halogen light with replacement bulbs and lenses. Operating cost will be reduced through longer life and lower cost replacement parts. The new components are easier to replace than the previous sealed beam lights. The composite halogen lights are more efficient, provide brighter white light, and a more constant light output for the life of the bulb, when compared to the previous lights. Additional features of these new lights include a built-in shock mount and a scratch resistant glass lens that will not discolor with heat or age.
The new lights will fit most Caterpillar machines, where similar type lighting exists. The new lights require a 3E1857 Harness Assembly to provide the light ground. The new lights are NOT case grounded. Horizontal mounting is accomplished with a 9X9365 Mounting Bracket. For each new installation of a lamp group, a 8T4121 Washer and 8T4133 Nut will be needed. The new lights provide a slight forward and reverse tilt through the adjustable mounting bracket.

Tighten screws (1) to a torque of 1.10 ± 0.15 N·m (10 ± 2 lb in).
Characters on lens (2) MUST be upright for the correct light pattern to be emitted from the lamp assembly.
Tighten nuts to a torque of 1.70 ± 0.25 N·m (15 ± 3 lb in).
Bolt head will not turn when it is seated on the bracket. Tighten nut to a torque of 12 ± 4 N·m (9 ± 3 lb ft).
Bolt head will not turn when it is seated on the bracket. Tighten nut (9) to a torque of 25 ± 7 N·m (18 ± 5 lb ft).
