Modification Of 1U7791 Valve Seat Driver{0782,1103}

Usage:

1.1 Liter Family Of Engines

The intake valve seat insert (B) of the 1.1 Liter Engine may not be fully seated when installed with a 1U7791 Valve Seat Driver (A).

During installation of the intake valve seat insert, the end of the valve seat driver may contact the intake port wall. This prevents the insert from being fully seated in the cylinder head insert bore. See Illustration 1.

Illustration 1. Location of possible interference.

To correct this problem, the 1U7791 Valve Seat Driver has to be modified. Modify the valve seat driver to the dimensions and surface textures shown in Illustration 2.

The driver is hardened to Rockwell "C" 43-48. It is recommended that carbide tooling be used during the rework process. When completed, the hardness should be at Rockwell "C" 40-42. There is no need to reharden the driver when done.

NOTE: It is not necessary to remove the driver guide during the modification.
