User Account
Before creating an "Open Database Connectivity" (ODBC), make sure that the "Database Administrator" (DBA) has installed the Oracle ODBC driver on the target computer. The ODBC driver is provided with Oracle. The ODBC driver is NOT distributed by Caterpillar. Refer to Oracle's documentation for the ODBC driver installation.
A user account MUST be created by the DBA in Oracle that is dedicated to AQ2DB6. The user account must not have administrative rights to Oracle. Therefore, the "System" or "Sys" account which has administrative rights cannot be used.
AQ2DB6 will run scripts that will set up the table space within the user account. The user account will require that "Permissions" are assigned. Failure to assign permissions will cause errors when the scripts are run.
The following list contains the permissions that the user needs:
- Create Table
- Create Sequence
- Create Index
- Create Procedure
- Create Type
- Create View
Note: For example, the "WK_USER" user role in Oracle contains all of the above permissions.
The table space that the user account is assigned to should be set to "autoexpand". It is recommended to initially set the table space size to 500Mb and the autoexpand to a minimum of 100Mb increments.
