Getting Started

Usage:

When the computer boots up, the "AQ2DB6 Service" and the "Service Monitor" will start automatically. The "Service Monitor" icon (1) should appear in the system tray.

Run "Aquila Database Configurtor" (ADC) in order to configure AQ2DB6 and in order to configure the database. There are three methods that can be used in order to launch the ADC software.

Method 1:

Double click on the "Service Monitor" icon (1) that is in the system tray.

Method 2:

Start ADC from the "Service monitor" menu.

  1. Right click on the "Service monitor" icon (1) .

  1. Select "Aquila Database Configurator" from the "Service Monitor" menu.

Method 3:

Select the "Aquila Database Configurator" application through the "Start" menu. Refer to Illustration 3 for the following steps.

  1. Click the "Start" button.

  1. Select "All Programs" from the "Start" menu.

  1. Select "Aquila" from the "All Programs" menu.

  1. Select "AQ2DB6" from the "Aquila" menu.

  1. Select "Aquila Database Configurator" from the "AQ2DB6" menu.

When the application starts, the main "Aquila Database Configurator" screen will offer different options. The options will provide the ability to make changes to the Aquila Database configuration tables. Refer to Illustration 4.

A connection to the database is needed. Various options are provided with each tab (6), (7), and (8). Refer to Illustration 4.

Connecting to the Database

There are two methods in order to start the connection to a database.

Method 1:

Use the "File" menu in order to connect to the database.

  1. Click the "File" tab in the "Aquila Database Configurator" screen.

  1. Select the "Connect to database" option from the "File" drop-down menu. Refer to Illustration 5.

  1. Click the "Connect to database" button in the main "Aquila Database Configurator" screen in order to connect to the database.

    Once the connection process is started, the prompt that is shown in Illustration 7 will appear.

  1. Select the name of the database connection.

  1. Enter the corresponding user name and password.

    The application will remember the last information that was entered.

  1. After the information is entered, click the "OK" button.

    If the connection is established, then all of the database configuration options will be activated.

  1. The status bar will confirm the connection.

Disconnecting from the database

Just like connecting to a database, there two methods in order to disconnect from the database.

Method 1:

Disconnect from the database by using the "File" menu.

  1. Click the "File" tab in the "Aquila Database Configurator" screen.

  1. Select the "Disconnect from database" option from the "File" drop-down menu.

Method 2:

Click the "Disconnect from database" button in the main "Aquila Database Configurator" screen in order to disconnect from the database.

The status bar will confirm the disconnection. Refer to Illustration 11.

Selecting the Type of Machine

The "Machine type" list provides a selection of the available machines for the database. The database is configured according to the type of machine that is selected in the "Machine Type" list.
