Installation

Usage:

Server Software Installation

Perform the following steps in order to install the AQ2DB software on the "Server".

  1. Run the program "AQ2DB 6.X.X.0 Setup.exe" on the target system.

  1. Select "Server" in the "Install Type" drop down menu.

    The server will have three boxes checked. Refer to Illustration 1.

  1. Click the "Next >" button in order to continue.

  1. In the "Destination Folder" field, enter the installation folder that will be used for the "Server".

    A suggested location is entered by the default setting.

  1. Click the "Install" button in order to start the installation.

    A dialog screen will show the description of the installed files.

  1. When the installation is finished, click the "Close" button in order to end the installation.

Note: If either of the following error messages are displayed during the installation, then the "Ignore" button can be pressed.

  • "Error opening file for writing C:\WINDOWS\system32\mfc42.dll"

  • "Error opening file for writing C:\WINDOWS\system32\RICHED32.dll"

The error is due to the fact that the DLL is already in use by another application.

A dialog box will ask if the user wants to view the "readme" file.

The computer must be rebooted in order to complete the installation.

Note: It is recommended that the computer be rebooted before starting the application.

Perform the following steps in order to start the application without rebooting:

  1. In the "Startup" menu, run the "Service Monitor".

    1. Click the "Start" button.

      The "Start" menu will appear.

    1. Select "All Programs" from the "Start" menu.

      The "All Programs" menu will appear.

    1. Select "Startup" from the "All Programs" menu.

      The "Startup" menu will appear.

    1. Select "AQ2DB6 Service Monitor" from the "Startup" menu.

      The "AQ2DB6 Service Monitor" icon (1) will appear in the system tray. Refer to Illustration 8.

  1. Right click on the "AQ2DB6 Service Monitor" icon (1) .

  1. Select "Start Service".

A confirmation dialog will appear which indicates that the AQ2DB6 service is running.

Client Installation

The "Client" installation is optional. The "Client" software is used in order to run ADC remotely from another PC. The "Client" software must run on the same network as the server that is running the "AQ2DB Service".

Perform the following steps in order to install the "Client".

  1. Run the program "AQ2DB 6.X.X.0 Setup.exe" on the target system.

  1. Select "Client" in the "Install Type" drop down menu choices.

    The "Setup Installation Options" dialog will have the "Aquila Database Configurator" box checked. Refer to Illustration 11.

  1. Click the "Next >" button in order to continue.
