- Articulated Truck:
- 740 EJECTOR (S/N: AZZ1-UP; B1R1-213)
In extreme circumstances, it is possible that the ejector frames of the ejector blade might contact the end plates at the ends of the rails for the ejector blade. Any contact between the end plates and the ejector frames is not a normal operating condition and any contact might result in damage to the end plates.
In order to avoid contact between the ejector frames and the end plates, spacer plates should be installed behind the end plates. The spacer plates will extend the position of the end plates.
Perform the following steps in order to install spacer plates onto each of the rails for the ejector blade. Before conducting the installation procedure, ensure that you understand the procedure and all the parts that are required. In order to perform the procedure, you must fabricate two spacer plates. Refer to "Fabrication of Spacer Plates".
- Remove plate (1), bolts (2) and washers (3) on one side of the machine. Inspect the 173-6854 Plate (END) and 9X-8257 Washers. If the parts are damaged, replace the parts with new Caterpillar parts.

- Rework the other side of the machine.
Note: On later machines 740 Ejector (S/N: B1R214-UP), this problem has been avoided by increasing the length of the rails for the ejector blade.
