Rotary Actuator - Remove and Install

Removal Procedure


NOTICE

Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.

Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Caterpillar Dealer Service Tool Catalog" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Caterpillar products.

Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.


Note: Put identification marks on all hoses, on all hose assemblies, and on all tube assemblies for installation purposes. Plug all hose assemblies and all tube assemblies. This helps to prevent fluid loss, and this helps to keep contaminants from entering the system.

  1. Disconnect hose assemblies (3). Remove cable straps (2). Remove bolts (1) and bolts (4) in order to remove rotary actuator (5).

  1. Disconnect tube assemblies (6). Remove bolts (8) in order to remove plate (7) from rotary actuator (5) .

  1. Remove bolts (9) and the washers in order to remove plate (10) and remove bracket (11) .

  1. Remove bolts (12) and the washers in order to remove plate (13) and plate (14) .

  1. Position plate (14) and plate (13). Apply Tooling (A) to bolts (12) and install bolts (12) and the washers.

  1. Position bracket (11) and plate (10). Apply Tooling (A) to bolts (9) and install bolts (9) and the washers.

  1. Position plate (7). Apply Tooling (A) to bolts (8) and install bolts (8). Connect tube assemblies (6) to rotary actuator (5) .

  1. Position rotary actuator (5). Apply Tooling (A) to bolts (1) and bolts (4). Install bolts (1) and bolts (4). Install cable strap (2). Connect hose assemblies (3) .
