ECM Will Not Communicate with Other Systems or Display Modules
- Electronic Control Module (ECM)
- Connector or wiring problem
- Cat Data Link
- CAN data link (if applicable)
Connect Caterpillar Electronic Technician (ET). If the ECM does not communicate with the Cat ET, perform the diagnostic functional test Troubleshooting, "Electronic Service Tool Will Not Communicate With ECM".
Check for correct installation of the ECM connectors. Check any machine connector or the customer connector in the circuit for correct installation. Refer to the diagnostic functional test Troubleshooting, "Electrical Connectors - Inspect".
Verify that the Cat Data Link does not have an open or short circuit. Refer to the diagnostic functional test Troubleshooting, "Cat Data Link".
Verify that the CAN data link does not have an open or short circuit. Refer to the diagnostic functional test Troubleshooting, "CAN Data Link".
