Remanufactured Cylinder Head Group For NA Engines Must Not Be Installed On T Engines

Usage:

All Caterpillar 3200 Series Engines

Reference: Engine News, February 22, 1984, Page 5, "Remanufactured Cylinder Head Assemblies." There are two Remanufactured Cylinder Head Groups available for Caterpillar 3200 Series Engines. One cylinder head group (OR944) is for naturally aspirated engines and the other (OR1101) is for turbocharged engines. Some users have been installing the OR944 Remanufactured (NA) Cylinder Head Group on turbocharged engines.

These Remanufactured Cylinder Head Groups are not interchangeable between naturally aspirated and turbocharged engines.

All 3200 Series Turbocharged Engines use valve seat inserts. They also use a different exhaust valve than naturally aspirated engines.

The 3208 Turbocharged Engine also requires a cylinder head group with two springs per valve. They also use a cam with a higher lift.

NOTICE

Using a Cylinder Head Group that is Remanufactured for a naturally aspirated engine in a turbocharged engine, will result in damage to the engine.

The OR944 Remanufactured Cylinder Head Group can only be used on 3208 and 3204 Naturally Aspirated Engines. They are not adaptable to turbocharged applications. The OR1101 Remanufactured Cylinder Head Group is the service replacement for either the 1W2282 or 9N6620 Cylinder Head Group and is used in turbocharged applications.
