Oil Pump Flow Increased

Usage:

3192, 7251, 7261 Marine Transmissions

Reference: September 5, 1983 Service Magazine, Page 6, "Larger Oil Pump Used To Give Better Clutch Cooling And Bearing Lubrication".

Description of Change: A larger inlet hose and elbows are used on the oil pump on 7251 and 7261 Marine Transmissions. The inside diameter has increased from 31.8 mm (1.25") to 38.1 mm (1.50"). This reduces the inlet restriction resulting in more oil pump flow.

Adaptable As: The larger hose and elbow are directly adaptable to 7261 Transmissions 6LB1-Up.

Also, if the larger 3T9672 Pump Group (announced in the reference article) is used, the larger hose and elbow are directly adaptable to 7261 Transmission 89B1-Up, and 7251 and 3192 Transmissions. These transmissions with the larger pump are identified by a hose for the inlet line, instead of a tube used on the smaller 7L5553 Pump Group.
