New Cylinder Blocks Permit The Use Of One Positive Crankcase Ventilation (PCV) Valve

Usage:

3208 Industrial And Generator Set Engines With Turbochargers

Description of Change: Most turbocharged 3208 Engines now use one PCV valve instead of two. This change was made possible by changing the cylinder block and PCV valve. The addition of ventilation ports cast into the front of the engine block allow one side of the engine to be vented, through the front cover, to the other side. See the illustration.

The new PCV valve has an added element that separates oil from the crankcase fumes and directs the oil back into the engine.

NOTE: Not all turbocharged 3208 Engines are being changed to one PCV valve.

Adaptable To: The new 2W8122 and 4W6264 Cylinder Blocks are direct replacements for the former blocks. For parts service, order the 2W8035 Block Group and the 2W51 Block Kit. This cylinder block can be identified by the part number, 2W8122, that is cast into the block in the location shown in the illustration. The 2W8122 Cylinder Block is part of the 2W8035 Block Group.

Location of ventilation ports and part number.

Later turbocharged 3208 Engines with one PCV valve must use a 2W8035 Block Group and a 2W51 Block Kit for repairs or replacement.
