Product Link Machine Information Is Not Being Reported On Cat® Products Located in India{7606}

Introduction

The problem that is identified below does not have a known permanent solution. Until a permanent solution is known, use the solution that is identified below.

Problem

Product Link machine information is not being reported on Cat® Products located in North, North Central, North West, and North Eastern regions of India. The following issues are occurred in the machines equipped with Product Link.

  • Harness issue - PL522 harness connectivity

  • Hardware issue

- SIM Card Not Detected

- SIM Card Not Ready

Solution

Perform the following interim corrective actions to resolve the issues occurred in the machines that are equipped with Product Link:

Harness Issue - PL522 Harness Connectivity

  1. Verify the PL522 harness connection with the machine harness.

    Routing of wiring harness between PL522 ECM and antenna

  1. Check the antenna wiring connection between the PL522 ECM and antenna.

  1. Verify that the antenna location should be placed on machine as per PL522 installation procedure. Refer to Special Instruction, REHS2368, "Installation Procedure for Product Link PL522/523 (Cellular)" for PL522 installation procedure.

  1. Perform the PL522 installation procedure to verify the wiring connection between machine harness and antenna.

Hardware Issue

SIM Card Not Detected

The following GSM Information is to be checked using Caterpillar Electronic Technician (Cat ET) to identify the hardware issue "SIM card not detected".

  • SIM Card Status - "Not Detected"

  • SIM Card Number - "Blank"

  • IMEI Number - "Available"

If the Cat ET shows similar to Illustration 2, perform the following procedure to resolve the hardware issue "SIM card not detected":

  1. Register the new PL522 ECM in VisionLink.

  1. Replace the faulty PL522 ECM with a new PL522 ECM.

  1. Verify the data in VisionLink after installing the new PL522 ECM.

SIM Card Not Ready

The following GSM Information is to be checked using Cat ET to identify the hardware issue "SIM card not ready".

  • SIM Card Status - "Not Ready"

  • SIM Card Number - "Blank"

  • IMEI Number - "Blank"

If the Cat ET shows similar to Illustration 3, perform the following procedure to resolve the hardware issue "SIM card not ready":

  1. Register the new PL522 ECM in VisionLink.

  1. Replace the faulty PL522 ECM with a new PL522 ECM.

  1. Verify the data in VisionLink after installing the new PL522 ECM.

Note: Before downloading the data from Product Link, wait for 5 minutes after the machine key ON.
