    Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Caterpillar Dealer Service Tool Catalog" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Caterpillar products.

    Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.

    Before you remove the air intake shutoff, pull the trip knob on the air intake shutoff or press the emergency stop button in order to release the blade latch. If the blade latch is released after the air intake shutoff is removed, serious personal injury can result.

    Note: Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "General Information (Reference Material)" for more information.

  1. Remove the exhaust manifold shields.

  1. Pull the emergency knob on the air intake shutoff or press the emergency stop button in order to release the blade latch on the air inlet shutoff.

  1. Drain the coolant from the cooling system into a suitable container for storage or disposal. Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Cooling System Coolant (ELC) - Change".

  1. Remove tube assembly (1) .

  1. Disconnect tube assembly (2). Remove the gasket.

  1. Remove oil supply tube assembly (3). Remove the O-ring seal.

  1. Disconnect oil drain tube assembly (4). Remove the gasket.

  1. Remove bolts (6) from the turbocharger. Disconnect bellows (5) on the exhaust manifold from the turbocharger. Remove the gasket.

  1. Remove bolts (7) from the turbocharger. Disconnect elbow (8) from the turbocharger. Remove the gasket.

  1. Attach Tooling (A) and a suitable lifting device to turbocharger (9). The weight of turbocharger (9) is approximately 400 kg (880 lb). Remove bolts (10) that hold turbocharger (9) to the support and remove the turbocharger.
