Removal Procedure
Start By:
- Release the pressure in the hydraulic system. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Hydraulic System Pressure - Release".
- Disconnect any attachment tools from the quick coupler assembly.
NOTICE |
---|
Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting and repair of the machine. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids. Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Caterpillar Tools and Shop Products Guide", for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids in Caterpillar machines. Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates. |
- Fasten two nylon straps to quick coupler (2). Attach a hoist to the nylon straps.
High hydraulic system pressure. To avoid personal injury, do not remove any hydraulic system lines, taps, or parts until all pressure has been relieved. |

Note: Note the location of washers (5) and (6) for assembly purposes.
- Remove the quick coupler from the machine. The weight of the quick coupler is 156 kg (344 lb).
Installation Procedure
- Use a hoist and two nylon straps. Lift quick coupler (2) into position. Align the four pin bores.
Note: Ensure that the pins slide freely in the pin bores before assembly. Lubricate all the pin bores and the pins with 5P-0960 Molybdenum Grease.

- Install pins (3) and (7) in the pin bores on each side of the quick coupler. Make sure that washers (5) and (6) are installed in the original locations. If any parts have been replaced, add or subtract washers (5) and (6) so that the lift arms and lever assemblies are centered in the quick coupler. Refer to Specifications, SENR6773, "IT14G Integrated Tool Carrier Hydraulic System" for allowed tolerances.
