Addition to Testing and Adjusting , "Torque Converter Stall - Test" {3101}

Usage:

24H 7KK
Motor Grader:
24H (S/N: 7KK1-UP)
Testing and Adjusting, SENR1417, "24H Motor Grader Power Train", "Torque Converter Stall - Test". This module is part of the following Service Manual, SENR8695.

Add the following test procedure to Testing and Adjusting , "Torque Converter Stall - Test".

Test Procedure

  1. Ensure that the transmission oil level is correct.

  1. Complete the procedure for machine preparation for troubleshooting. For the proper procedure, refer to Testing and Adjusting, "Machine Preparation for Troubleshooting".

  1. Disconnect position sensor (1) for the service brake control (pedal) (2) .

  1. Start the engine.

  1. Fully depress pedal (2). Depress pedal (2) for the entire test.

  1. Shift the transmission to the THIRD SPEED FORWARD position.

    NOTICE

Do not keep the torque converter in a stall condition for long periods of time. Damage could occur in the torque converter, the engine, and the brakes.

    NOTICE

Do not stall the torque converter for more than 15 seconds during this test.

  1. Fully depress accelerator control (pedal) (3). The engine speed will increase to approximately 2300 RPM. The engine speed will immediately decrease. The engine speed will reach a low point. The engine speed will begin to increase again. The lowest engine speed that is achieved is the stall speed. When the engine speed begins to increase immediately release pedal (3).

  1. Immediately shift the transmission to the NEUTRAL position. Run the engine at 1500 RPM for at least two minutes in order to cool the transmission oil. Do not repeat the test until the oil is cooled properly. Do not shut down the engine until the oil is cooled properly.

  1. The correct stall speed is 1800±50 RPM. If the stall speed that is obtained in Step 7 is incorrect, refer to Testing And Adjusting, "Operational Checks".

  1. Shut down the engine after the transmission oil is cooled properly.

  1. Connect brake pedal sensor (1) .
