Personal injury or death can result if the machine is roaded in any mode other than two-wheel steer. Always road the machine with the rear wheels centered and the machine in the two-wheel steer mode. |
NOTICE |
---|
To avoid possible damage to the steering system, always center the rear wheels before operating the machine in the two-wheel steer mode. |
Use of Steering Modes
Bring the machine to a stop before changing the steering mode.
Note: Ensure that the front wheels and the rear wheels are in the straight ahead position before selecting any of the steering modes. Always check that the wheels are in alignment before operating the machine in any of the steering modes.

The machine can be operated in the following steering modes:
- Two-Wheel Steer (A)
- Circle Steer (B)
- Crab Steer (C)
Illustration 2 | g00988235 |
The modes are selected by operating steering mode switch (1) in conjunction with lamp (2) and lamp (3). Lamp (2) and lamp (3) are used to assist in wheel alignment.
Two-Wheel Steer (A) - Only the front wheels are steered in two-wheel steer mode. The rear wheels should be aligned in the straight ahead position. This mode must be used when you road the machine.
Note: Always refer to the indicator lamp and ensure that the rear wheels are aligned in the straight ahead position before you road the machine in the two-wheel steer mode.
Circle Steer (B) - Use circle steer mode for normal operation. When the machine is in circle steer mode, the front wheels and the rear wheels turn in opposite directions. This allows the machine to make tighter turns. This mode must not be used when you road the machine.
Crab Steer (C) - When the machine is in crab steer mode, the front wheels and the rear wheels turn in the same direction. When you select the crab steer mode, the machine will move forward and the machine will move to one side. Alternatively, the machine will move backward and the machine will move to one side. This allows the machine to operate in confined locations. This mode must not be used when you road the machine.

- Select either circle steer mode (B) or crab steer mode (C) and turn the steering wheel until indicator (3) for the rear wheels is illuminated. The rear wheels are now in the straight ahead position.
- Select two-wheel steer mode (A) and turn the steering wheel until indicator (2) for the front wheels and indicator (3) for the rear wheels are illuminated. All four wheels are now in the correct alignment. This allows any of the three steering modes to be selected when steering mode switch (1) is operated.

Example of a Machine with the Rear Wheels out of Alignment |
In certain circumstances, the operator may choose to operate the machine with the rear wheels out of alignment. For example, the rear of the machine may be in an area with restricted space around the wheels for realigning the steering. It is acceptable to still operate the machine with the rear wheels out of alignment in this situation. For normal operating conditions, ensure that the rear wheels are in alignment for the steering mode that is selected.
Note: Never road the machine with the rear wheels out of alignment.
