Removal Procedure

Start By:

1. Remove the alternator. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Alternator - Remove and Install".
2. Remove the refrigerant compressor. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Refrigerant Compressor - Remove and Install".

Personal injury can result from hot coolant, steam and alkali. At operating temperature, engine coolant is hot and under pressure. The radiator and all lines to heaters or the engine contain hot coolant or steam. Any contact can cause severe burns. Remove cooling system pressure cap slowly to relieve pressure only when engine is stopped and cooling system pressure cap is cool enough to touch with your bare hand. Do not attempt to tighten hose connections when the coolant is hot, the hose can come off causing burns. Cooling System Coolant Additive contains alkali. Avoid contact with skin and eyes.

Note: Put identification on all lines, hoses, wires, and tubes for installation purposes. Install a cap or plug on all lines, hoses, and tubes in order to prevent foreign material from entering the system.

Note: Drain all fluids into a suitable container for storage or disposal.

1. Loosen bolt (3) on water pump idler (4) in order to release the tension on the belt.

2. Remove belt (2) from water pump (1) and water pump idler (4) .

3. If the machine is equipped with heater valves, close heater valves (5) .

4. Remove heater hoses (6). Remove the heater hose for the outlet from water pump (1) .

5. Loosen hose clamp (10) and remove radiator hose (11) from the water pump.

6. Loosen hose clamp (7) .

7. Remove four bolts (9). Slide water pump (1) off hose (8). Remove the water pump.

8. Remove the O-ring seals from the rear of the water pump.
