Start By:
- Install the retaining cable. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Truck Body Retaining Cable - Remove and Install".
- Release the pressure in the air system. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Air Tanks (Brake) - Purge".
The space between the body and the frame becomes a zero clearance area when the body is lowered. Failure to install the retaining cable can result in injury or death to personnel working in this area. |
In order to prevent possible personal injury, release the air pressure from the air tank before disconnecting any components of the air system. |
- Disconnect hose assemblies (1) and (3).
- Remove elbows (4) and (5).
- Remove double check valve (2) from the front air over hydraulic cylinder (6).
Note: Cleanliness is an important factor. Before the removal procedure, the exterior of the component should be thoroughly cleaned. This will help to prevent dirt from entering the internal mechanism.
Note: Put identification marks on all hose assemblies and on all tube assemblies for installation purposes. Plug all hose assemblies and all tube assemblies. This helps to prevent fluid loss and this helps to prevent contaminants from entering the system.

- Install double check valve (2) onto front air over hydraulic cylinder (6).
- Install elbows (4) and (5) onto double check valve (2).
- Connect hose assemblies (1) and (3).
- Charge the air pressure in the air tank. Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual , SEBU7173, "Starting with an External Air Supply" for the correct procedure.

Personal injury or death can result from air in the oil for the brake hydraulic system.
Air in the system can prevent complete brake application and it is possible that the wheels on the machine can not be stopped.
Air must not be in the oil for the brake hydraulic system to function properly.
- Purge the air from the hydraulic oil in the brake hydraulic system. Refer to Systems Operation/Testing and Adjusting, SENR1494, "Brake System Air - Purge" for the correct procedure.
Note: Cleanliness is an important factor. Before the installation procedure, all parts should be thoroughly cleaned in cleaning fluid. Allow the parts to air dry. Wiping cloths or rags should not be used to dry parts. Lint may be deposited on the parts which may cause later trouble.

Note: Before installation, apply 5P-3413 Pipe Sealant to the external tapered threads of elbows (4) and (5).
End By:
- Remove the retaining cable. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Truck Body Retaining Cable - Remove and Install".
- Remove the wheel chocks. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Wheel Chock (Front and Remove) - Remove and Install".
